R.K.Selander, 1952 Mysteria americana August 21 Pei de la Cuesta, 20ft., Guerrero, Mexico. - Shot a juvenile (?) from top of mangrove tree near Lengua. August 23 Flock of at least 5 perched in trees (about 20 feet in height) in marshy area. Allowed me to approach within 30 yds. before taking flight. A reddish, large wading bird with the flock may have been an Ajaja ajaja - but identification uncertain. Mexican name (locally at least) for M. americana is "Pico-Pando". Aug. 26 Two disturbed (while feeding?) in small pond near road. Flew 100 yds or so (and continued feeding?).
