Aug. 31 We made a half-hour stop here along the highway for the purpose of collecting muleides. I hunted through a grassy area dotted with mesquite (?) and small eortli (no more than 2 feet in height). Lizards were abundant on the grass, especially around the base of the brushers. Obtained 6 specimens, all of which showed bright greenish dorsum, matching in shade the color of the grass.
Aug. 31 Cuernavaca highway, 8700 ft., near La Cima, Distrito Federal, Mexico.
Arrived here at 5:00 P.M. and hunted until 7:00 from the highway over towards La Cima. There is no way of getting to La Cima in a car from the highway here, although there is a direct trail leading from the highway towards La Cima (at least in the direction which the town should lie, according to a small sign - "LA CIMA", which is located along the highway at the point where we stopped.
I hunted through a depression between two gently sloping hills. The depression is heavily vegetated with "brushed-grass" which occurs grows to a height of 2 to 3 feet. The clumps of grass are closely spaced, often touching. Moss occurs as a mat beneath the grass. In several places black rock breaks through the soil. Rocks often covered with moss or lichen.
There must be considerable moisture in the depression
