(The price per day of our bungalow reduced to $ pesos after some huckering with the senorita who runs the place.) August 23 Hunted from 8:00 until 11:00 over same area as yesterday. Noted the following birds: (* indicates specimen taken) * Buteoides virgatus - 2 juvenils (?) collected at edge of mangroves. brown pelican *cormorant (sp.?) - 3 flying over laguna. Mycteria americana - 5 Coragyps atratus - 42 circling in flock. * Jacana spinosa Scardafella linea large pigeon (sp.?) - several Crotophaga sulcirostris Chordeiles acutipennis Dryocopus lineatus (?) * Centurus sp.? - one taken; 5 others seen = Chrysozemy Caloitta (formosa ok.) - Linolopha san-blasiana * Pitangus sulphuratus - common * Myiozetetes similis Empidonax sp.? * Campylorhynchus humilis * Turdus sp.? - common = rufa-pollistis * Ketohrachichus (florigaster ok.)
