K. Selander, 1952 Pie de la Cuesta, 20 ft., Guerrero, Mexico August 21 motionless and were easily approached. Shot both birds with 16 gauge half-lead. Also shot two medium-sized rabbits which the Mexicans took home to eat. Many rabbits seen. Mexicans report both N. allicollis and rabbits to be "common" here. Also reported owls as being "common" around Pie de la Cuesta, especially at the "monte about 1 kilometer" north of our bungalow (= about 2 miles). Returned home (=bungalow) at 11.00. Very tired. August 22 Hunted in morning over same areas as yesterday. Shot six A. r. dumicola; observed many others; located a nest. Additional birds noted today are: - Catoptrophorus senipalmatus - single bird passed overhead along the beach. Had very good look at the bird, noting white in wings. - Casmerodius alluaud - one flying over laguna. - Falcon sp.? - about size of F. mexicanus, but lighter in color. - Erupidorax sp. (spinnula taken) = trailii. - Dryocopus lineatus - 2 pairs in palms and mangroves. - Dichromorpha rufescens? - one working in shallow pond near highway. Couldn't shoot because of houses nearby. I am not too familiar with this species; possibly could have been Florida coerulea ??? Will try to get certain identification. Collected one lizard. Skinned 10 specimens in afternoon. Also pocketed specimens in wooden box for trip home (California)
