R.K. Selander, 1952 45 Pie de la Cuesta, 20 ft., Guerrero, Mexico August 21 - Saltator (coeruleus 1946) - immature obtained; none others noted. Oriole? - large, about size of robin; yellow tail; yellow markings in otherwise blackish wings. - Several in pairs. [I = Caminulus mekariensis RKS Aug. 24] - Turdus rufopalliatus - juvenile taken; several others seen. Returned to hanging low at ±10:30 and prepared specimens. A Mexican boy took the body of the Mycteria americana and disposed of it in the lagoon before I had a chance to sex it. Mexican name is "Pico Pando" according to natives here; reportedly very good eating. At sunset, the geckos appeared on the walls. Collected 9 specimens with the help of two Mexican boys. Also collected a jar of crabs, preserving them in 20:1 formalin. Slight rain began around 9:00. Set out with Mexican boy and his father to find caprimulgids. Drove about 5 kilometers west along highway, then turned off to the right on a dirt road. Drove along for about 2 kilometers (slightly less). Many fields, dotted with large thorny bushes. Using flashlight we were able to locate about 5 Nyctidromus albicollis. Shot two, one an adult, the other an immature; both on ground.
