R.K.Selander, 1952 44 Pie de la Cuesta, 20 ft., Guerrero, Mexico. August 21. Scardapella cinca - few seen in pairs in bushes in drier places near the laguna. Not common. - pigeon sp. = Leptotila verregulsi Several large pigeons with truncate tails - very wild. In palms and also mangroves. - Crotophaga sulciostria - common in bushes beneath palms, especially in drier places where cows are grazing. - Chordeiles anticapennies - flushed one bird (an immature, I believe) in grassy place near bog. - Nyctidromus albicollis - one flying over thorny bushes (mosquito-like) in grassy area. hummingbird sp? - fair sized bird; mostly blue in color. One seen. - Chloroceryle americana - two birds flying along edge of laguna. - Centurus sp. - several on trunks of palms. Need specimen for identification. Look a little different than aurifrons? = chrysogenys - Calocitta (formosa ok?) - one taken in large, thorny bush; only one seen. - Cassidix san-lasciana - common, especially in mangroves in small groups. - Campylorhynchus r. humulos - abundant in many types of vegetation. (See their account.) - Cassidix mexicanus - very common. - Agelaius phoeniceus - several, in pairs - Not common.
