August 18 Texpan, 5200ft., Michoacan, Mexico
Hunted two hours in early morning along the Rio
Texpan, noting same birds as yesterday. No Cactus
wrens seen over head. Returned to Motor Court around
9:00 A.M., parked our gear, and headed back long road
to Mexico City. left rear tire went down soon after we
left Texpan, so a stop while I changed the tire.
Arrived in Mexico City at 5:00 P.M. Stayed the night
at Hotel Polanco.

August 19 Shelters from Dr. Miller and National Science Foundation
regarding August fellowship check, which has been
lost somewhere between Washington, D.C. and Berkeley
California. Nat. Sci. Foundation checking on the matter.
Dr. Miller enclosed a personal check for $100.00
as a loan to tide us over until the check from
the Nat. Sci. Foundation is located. (We went down
to our lost peso and owed 20 pesos at the hotel).
left Mexico City at about 4:00 P.M. (after fixing tire
fixed -- tube badly cut by locked rim - bought
new tube; 42.00 pesos). Near Cuernavaca, Morelos
