K. Selander, 1952 30 August 9 2mi. S Contepex, 3700ft., Veracruz, Mexico. Atlaptetea lurmmel-nucha [1 collected by Julio] Contopue sp. [1 taken by lamb] Chlorospingua opthalmicus - common. > Casidix mexicanus ( Callarus sp. (heard today) Spinnna [psaltria ?] - common. Harricodina sp. [one seen by lamb] Megarynehus pitagua (2 seen, 1 collected) Birds are so hard to find that it is not worth while remaining at this camp any longer. No wrens seen today - none heard. Birds particularly score in the coffee groves; slightly more plentiful in the stands of broad-leafed trees. Much of the county around Tico and Teveclo is planted in coffee and bananas, so that hunting is probably poor for mules around our present camp. We plans to move to a camp along the Rio Bandarillo about 5 miles north of Talapa. Will move in the morning. reported Concerning the occurrence of C. megalopterus at Talapa (type locality), I should judge that it is highly unlikely that the species occurs or immediate occurred in the vicinity. No stands of oak seen. Habitats around Talapa definitely not those of C. megalopterus; but some oak-pine forest still standing about 15 miles west of there.
