R.K.Selander, 1952 29 August 9 2 mi. S Coatepeque, 3700ft., Veracruz, Mexico one Megarynchus pitangua, and one Chlorospingus ophthalmicus. Saw a number of Basilatrus culicivorus and one [illegible] joy, (sp.?); Julio obtained an Atlapetes brunnei-nucha. Saw a number of swifts flying above the river - may have been Chaetura rutila. Returned to camp at noon and skinned specimens. Flocks of short-tailed grosbeaks flying over camp this afternoon. A few brown jays (P. morio) around camp. Complete list of birds observed and/or collected at this camp: Psarax cayana (1 observed) Strophilus torquata (bank saw one in weeds) Psilorhinus morio Campylopterus sp. (1 collected by bank) Amazila sp. (1 collected by bank) Phaethornis superciliosus (1 seen by bank) Centurus aurifrons - common. Conopyrhynchus zonatus Phlogothraupis sorquinalenta (1 collected) Rivanga (flava?) 1 collected. Mysodynastes luteiventris (2 collected) Basilatrus culicivorus - common. Basilatrus "belli" [1 seen by bank] Basilatrus rufifrons [pair seen by bank] Icterus gualacabeda - fairly common. Tunkky sculture Seurus notabilis [1 collected]
