Sep 6, R. 1985 Isla San Marcos to Santa Rosalía, and return, Baja California Sur, México 17 May sunset over water. It was hot, no cloud cover today, and we only saw 2 snakes walking until 1030. The first was an adult Lichanura I found in a side canyon almost up to the C. scuteti area. It appears normal life like the mainland specimens. I caught the second snake, a Trimorphodon, at 3345 about the scuteti canyon in the open. It was crossing my path. Picked up 3 pairs of C. scuteti. Went to sleep. Name of the canyon is "El Grachyón," after someone who lived and died in San Brayo. Isla San Marcos to La Paz, Baja California Sur, México 18 May Left at 0830 and sped to La Paz arriving late afternoon. Very cold night. Caught a Chilomeniscus stramineus and a baby Leptotyphlops S of San Pedro, and a C. euo S of San Antonio. The latter is the first of the trip. It was quite warm S of San Antonio, but freezing back in La Paz. Had a terrible headache and took Celeste to fall asleep. Two days in a row on San Marcos was probably too much and we're both fairly dehydrated.
