Seib, R. 1985 La Paz to Isla Cerralvo, Baja California Sur, Mexico 9 May Abarro Cerralvo Farro (lighthouse) La Estacura Los viejos Peninsula El Sargento canyon. Lantern walking produced only a single snake, Leptotyphlops humilis, a somewhat melanistic adult. Also caught two Phyllodactylus auctus. Slept on the beach under the beautiful stars. Sort of baggy, though. In the morning we walked up through the canyon. I saw Sator abundantly, and watched a pair of Curimadphorus hyperthus forage. Dipsoceoras dorsalis were also common. I caught the only Geosaura hemilophy seen. I merely walked slowly up to it. I was only 2 feet away when it finally moved, crawling under its rock. I reached under and simply pulled it out. There wer canid scats and bats on this part of the island. Also, after lantern walking a saw only one (sand?) snake track in the beach sand, reflecting the dearth of activity at this time. The boatman, Ramon, arrived at 900 and brought us back to El Sargento. The total for reptiles observed is:
