Seib, R. 1985 La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico 8 May 8.1 mi N Buena Vista. Then, nothing until El Triunfo. Between here and San Pedro we picked up the usual: Hypsiglena, Leptotyphlops, Chilomyscus and Trimorphodon. It's still cool at night and must be early in the season for about half the species. La Paz to Isla Cerralvo, Baja California Sur, Mexico 9 May We drove out the road to San Juan de los Planos on B.C. 13, then turned left on the road to El Sargento which comes from San Antonio. The road first comes to La Ventura, 3 km before El Sargento. I mistakenly thought I was at the latter and tried in vain to get a boat for less than 15000-18000 pesos. When I learned where I was, I drove on and found a boatman in his house on the beach. His name is Mario Ramon -- he offered to take us for 5000 pesos. Two places described to me sounded especially good: Los Viejos, a long sand beach; and La Estacion, a long beachhead which is the mouth of a long, wide canyon. I chose to visit La Estacion. The ride, on 55 hp motor, was about 30 minutes, twice the distance (in time) to Isla San Marcos from San Bruno with a 55 hp. We arrived prior to sunset which was incredible.
