Tapachula to Catemaco, Veracruz, Mexico
2 Nov. I slept until 1100 ! Allison was at the pool and was letting me rest up. I pickled then we packed the car and bought ice. We were on the road at about 1400. Drove 10 hours today all the way to Catemaco. We tried, but failed to find the hotel Playa Azul, a Starnive ludovici locality. Ended up at the Hotel Imalca, a super-groovy dive which is basically a modified run-in-front-of-you motel. On the road out of Arriaga it was cooling off after 1700 and we saw a DOR Leptophis and many DOR Masticophis mentovarius . Also saw a fresh DOR Tyto alba in the daytime - strange. We breathed a bad-smelling putrid gas all night and the air conditioner sounded as though a jet plane was landing in the room - all night long. Slept very little this night.
