Tehuantepec to Cerro Paul, Chiapas, Mexico
16 Oct bromeliad. Attempted to sleep.
Cerro Paul to Arriaga, Chiapas, México
17 Oct Woke up very early. Since we drank all our
sodas during the night, we had to hike
down to the road to fill the bottles with
water. We got lost at least 3 or 4 times
on the way down. After hiking back up,
we cut open bromeliads for 5 hours,
employing the services of 2 Indians. In 20
person hours, we collected another 8
Bolitoglossa. I found 4 in 4 different
bromeliads, as did one of the Indians. I
also found 4 Idyla and a Barisia and
Allison found an Anolis. Hiked back down
to the car and drove to Rizo de Oro. The
truck lost its right torsion bar 3 km
from the town. The right side of the lift
kit no longer lifted the wheel well above
the tire, so I could not turn more than
a few degrees, by fastening the torsion bar
to the underside of the truck with rope, I
managed to limp into Arriaga, where the
truck was fixed at a Ford dealership.
Slept at Hotel El Parador.
