A man on the north side of town swore that he new the salamander from up in the mountains but that Bipes did not exist there. 27.0 Kmi S Tecoman stopped at a store in San Juan. Several men there said that they had lived all their lives in San Juan, one of them 36 years, and Bipes did not exist. One of them thought the salamander might live in the mountains. 38.5 Kmi S Tecoman stopped at La Placita, There is a store on the right hand side one block south of Puente La Placita. Several men at this store knew the salamander. One of them described the habits and habitat perfectly. He said he lived at El Aguila which is about 20 km into the mountains by a dirt road just north of La Placita. He said he would collect some and leave them at the store for me. Even if he did does not collect them, it would be worth taking that dirt road to his town to look for salamanders.
