Seib, R. 1984 Berkeley to La Jolla, California 1 Oct Left this morning to drive to La Jolla where I met Allison Alberts who will be my companion for the next 6 weeks in Mexico. Spent the night here. La Jolla to Guerrero Negro, Baja California Sur, Mexico 2 Oct Drove straight through to G. Negro, stopping only a few times. Picked up a Colubrophis hyperythrus in a can trap 10 mi SE of El Rosario, but only checked a few other trap stations, all of which were pretty well defunct. I am getting worse flu and had to stay in G. Negro due to a fever. Jalva no snakes on the way in. G. Negro to La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico 3 Oct Woke up feeling very sick. It was relatively warm for Guerrero Negro, but there was a cloud cover that seemed to extend all the way across the Vizcaino Desert. Caught a live adult Masticophis flagellum 66 miles South G. Negro. Stopped in San Ignacio for lunch at the restaurant 1 km south of town. The boys that work there told me that an American was killed out at Punta Abriojos in a hurricane. Left about 12:30 and it was cloudy all
