Seib,R. 1983 La Paz to Mira Flores, and return, Baja California Sur, Mexico. 11 May places that snakes are especially active. It seems much warmer in these areas, probably because the rocks have stored up much radiant energy and are now radiating long waves. Also, the hills may serve as a partial wind break. The two other areas where snakes were caught, Mira Flores and near La Paz, were also considerably warmer. Towards San Pedro we began finding snakes again and a Scophiopus, as well as a DOR bat in good condition. Arrived at hotel extremely tired and slept. 12 May I phoned the permit office in Mexico City this morning and the official told me he would mail my permit to Mexicali today. Two weeks ago he said he would mail it within 3 days.... Well, if he does mail it today it's conceivable that it might arrive in Mexicali by Tuesday. But it may never arrive!... I'll pass one more day in this area, hoping the permit arrives by Tuesday. I decided to drive back to Mira Flores where it's warmer at night so I could look for
