Seib, A. 1983 Cataviña to Bahía de los Angeles, Baja California Norte, México 7 May climbed up to the really big rocks to look for P. thalassinus (and was surprised to find several meomi way up there on giant boulders! None of the bigger species was seen. Arrived at BLA in late afternoon. Immediately had difficulty getting a room. Mrs. Diey took one look at me and said she wasn't renting rooms. I hadn't shaved for a couple of weeks and deduced that I had made a poor impression by my grubby desert appearance. I walked down to the beach flat and saw a lot of empty rooms. Hmm. After going back and being turned down 3 times, I went back the fourth time. The Tecate beer man was delivering 48 cases of Tecate and Mrs. Diey was putting it in the refrigerator all by herself. She's about 75. I asked where Fr. Diey was, and she said in Canada. Six month vacation.... I helped her get the beer in. She finally said I could have a room, "but it will cost you $10.00!"
