Seib, R. 1983 5 May San Diego to San Felipe, Baja California Norte, Mexico. Sierra San Pedro Martir. These peaks just abruptly from the floor of the desert. It's dramatic to be on the desert floor, and glimpse these mountains just miles away. We picked up a large Crotalus viridis 92 miles along the road. A coyote was trying to eat it, but it was still snapping. I was surprised to see it on this extremely windy afternoon. We checked into the Emblot at about 18:00 - not bad. Drove north about 12 miles to explore a hill from 17:00 - 19:00. 19:05 = sundown. Was too windy and only saw Lta. No signs of Crotaphytus or Sceloporus. Drove north and west until dark. It was too windy, so I turned back. But we started finding Scelops even in this wind! They were cold to the touch. We caught many (13) and saw many OB's. Picked up two Leptotyphlops and a Chilomeniscus without a trace of red color. Also took a smacked Arizona for a locality record.
