Seib, R. 1982 Tapachula, Chiapas, M?xico 11 Aug "For months afterwards (referring to my snake bite incident), people who came to my hotel ask me 'Are there still snakes at this hotel?' He said, 'You cost me trouble for two months afterwards.' Needless to say, our dinner & digestion were disturbed by the old fart. He has a face like an asshole that someone squirted lime juice into. So we just got depressed and fell asleep. 12 Aug Woke up at 7:00, had breakfast, and spent about 3 hours enjoying the pool. We packed and drove to the Loma Real, where I had made a reservation last night. After we had unpacked and were beginning to settle into our new room, the manager told us that we could not have the room. Something about 3 groups of tourists coming through. So we searched & searched through Tapachula for about 2 hours and finally settled on a groty little dive called Hotel Fenix. It's the standard Mexican situation, with bare wires sticking out of holes, light bulbs dangling from the ceiling on a cord, and a bathroom that smells bad enough to avoid showering.
