10 Aug and found extremely little in the latter in 1/4 m2 areas. All in all, we learned very little about snake densities in the quadrats, and even less about prey densities, for an enormous amount of labor output. We left at 17:00 and drove to Finca Monte Perla. I told them I would buy snakes for 10 pesos each or 20 for coral and large snakes. Several people looked for about 30 min and caught 2 C. natrix and a N. diadema. I told them I would return tomorrow at about 15:00 to see if they had more snakes. We then drove back to the hotel arriving 17:00. We prepared and ate dinner and went to sleep by 21:30. Forgot to mention that I ended up having to pay 20 pesos/snake to keep their vinecintue while working in the quadrats.
11 Aug Woke up at six and wrote journals. Ate at 7:15 and arrival at Finca Perla 9:15. Had a basically hopeless day trying to work quadrats. I first went to the old place where I used to collect most of the snakes. The coffee used to be the old style which
