Seib, R. 1981 Southfield to Ann Arbor, Michigan 20 Aug on the Central Campus. About half-way to Ann Arbor, the buildings drop out and The Auto Marts, Airports and corn fields come in. Still, it is much prettier than Southfield. The freeways, where they exist, are very poor, sort of like Mexican highways. U of M campuses in Ann Arbor are quite nice, lots of open country, vegetation, pools. I saw two turtles resting on a snag in a pool as I was was driving to Central Campus. U of M also has a campus at Dearborn and elsewhere. There are 40,000 students at Ann Arbor, but it is still less dense than Berkeley's single campus. Upon arriving to the campus, I first visited the Museum and met one of the Curators, Ronald Messbauer, and Dennis Harris, who also works in the collection. Afterwards, I walked West to the Natural Science Bldg and found Ron Marlow, a post-Doctoral student of Carl Crans. I decided to stay at Ron's apartment for some days. Ron is leaving in two weeks for a job in Santa Clara California.
