Seig R. 1980 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., California 23 Nov [illegible] auduboni. At 15:30 Pete and I went to check the 20 Calhan line. We found only birds, imcluding two Brown Towhees, two wrens, two Golden ramsel sparrows, and one fox sparrow. The birds were not found very deep into the chaparral. Back at camp we had coffee then went to set the mist net again. It is darker tonight as the moon is rising later. A [illegible] and a Myotis entered the net fairly quickly, but both were lost. About 30 mins later a [illegible] was caught and we went back to eat dinner. After- wards Jim gave a wonderful slide show of his and Carol's trips to Peru. At about 20:30 we went in a check for to check the net. It was drained and empty so we pulled it. Several of us checked the line traps and found a [illegible] [illegible] and more of the same mice. We then checked tomahawks in the dry creek bed and found two sparrows and another wilttail (auduboni). Before setting the mist net we had driven to the east
