Seib, R. 1980 Berkeley to Sagehen Creek Field Station, Nevada Co., California 3 Oct. I left for Sagehen at 10:40 this morning on the first of two Mammalogy class field trips this quarter. I drove a University sedan and Dave Dordee, David Good, and Judy Godwohl were passengers. The morning was clear, crisp and fresh! We proceeded east on I-80 through the smog-filled central valley and took the Frenches turnoff. We then took Ca Hwy 89 north for 7.4 mile and turned left at a poorly marked dirt road just before a small shack. This is Sagehen Rd. which we followed for 1.7 mi. to Sagehen Creek Field Station. The trip took nearly three hours, stopping once for gasoline and to stretch. We arrived 14:30. Upon arriving I noted several Eutamius spp. and Ammospermophilus which must be conditioned to the presence of humans and their activities for they appeared rather fearless. They were near at the ca. 6300 station and I and a few others removed shirts and went exploring. The area is near a creek surrounded by much grassy meadow
