Holmes,R 1959 31 July Barrow, Alaska Several flocks / These ducks were seen during the afternoon. 6 females were on freshwater lagoon 4/44 were just S. of the same lagoon and 30 were present in Wohlchlo's Slough. They all flew a approach to west. 6 August Barrow, Alaska A groy / 16 were seen on a small pond, just north / Footprint lake. They appeared to be / group males which had attained a brown plumage. The markings / The breeding plumage was still visible, however. 11 August Pitt Point, Alaska About 200 were seen just west of the base. They were scattered around on many small ponds: 19 August Barrow, Alaska 24 molting birds seen just N. of Footprint lake 20 August Barrow, Alaska 8 molting (body) birds seen just west of freshwater lagoon. 24 August Barrow, Alaska 4 seen just S. of freshwater lagoon.
