Holmes, R 1960 Branta nigricans 3. 13 july Barrow, Alaska To side (see maker's movies for definite). The ? would stand erect + the love his head slightly + run <for feet, stand erect again, etc.. After about 5 minutes / movie + Picture taking, the birds had moved about 20 yards. The nest was located on a small mound 35 feet from the old nest. The egg had been laid in a depression where down mixed with grass formed the nest. — Another nest was located just so. 1 Bokgak Slough between old nest #6 + #12. This any hood eggs when seen just pipping (4 had already hatched, 1 hatched while we were there, and I was pipping). The nest was about 25 years from the slough + again was in a depression on a small mound area. The ? was a true nest when first seen, but flushed quickly + flew so-100 yards away. She did a fan The Distracting Display, but it was not a violent one close to the nest on the first sea. It stopped after min.
