Holmes, R. 1939 Ereunetis pusillus 12 June Barrow, Alaska over the tundra in and near the drum area. A pair would race back and forth and then settle down on a small exposed patch of tundra. They were not always noted using the vertical wing landing display, but it was noted several times. During the flight display, they may stay at a height of 20 to 30 feet and never in one spot for several seconds, the float for a second - two and then hover again. At the end of the display, they glide at an angle towards the ground and alight with up-held wings. The wings are then slowly pulled down into normal position. During this gliding the wings are held at a slight angle. Both the chase and the flight display are accompanied by the constant chattering note. This note may become faster or slower, but is usually kept at a constant rate. 14 June Barrow, Alaska. Several birds noted displaying
