Holmes 1962 Crocephia alba 5 June Barrow, Alaska yesterday. No dust The fid toward the north - Dr B usually is his hunched posture. When I checked The Spot when Dr B had sat - no distinct cavity could be found - but only a shallow depression (i.e no lining). The site of this was very similar to the 1st cup found yesterday. Both a Polyza tops - new gravel beds - + both were very exposed - with very little vegetation. Apparently - This act (The B sitting in cavity is part 1 The courtship ceremony. When time allows, Dr B will go on to lining The site with 2-3 grass, fudge & lichen - but at other times - may just "try fat" - depression. There may be any number? ) A new "false" nest site made - checked during the courtship period. 6 June Only Dr B was seen today. When first heard - it was doing The aerial display - which ended with The chatter-like trill yah-yelz - kih,kih kih-kih .... - dropping off - pikes -
