Holmes, R. 1922 Calidris canutus 30 may BARROW, ALASKA 1 bird in full breeding plumage was seen feeding with several turnstones, 2 8 pecked Sgpr 1 & golden Plover near Elsa lagoon (in the exposed grass-bidge-covered fluff). One time when it flushed - it gave a nasal trill-like note - yash, yoal, yoal - Similar to the Dunlin but not as harsh. During the 1½ hours that it was under observation - This call was not heard over. The bird fed during incubation period. 11 june 1 individual seen feeding in wet areas - near Elsa lagoon 27 june Three seen with 3 floots 2 Spectral Sdg. - 4? Golden Plover - 5? Curlew Marsh - Five were collected.
