3 june Barrow, Alaska
2 (a pair probably) seen feeding near Elson Lagoon.
4 june - Several (1 pr + 1 or 2 indi) seen near
Britton's area. All were feeding. No chasing or
courtship was noted.
5 june A pair seen attempting copulation - near the
edge of Elson Lagoon. The ? freeded the ? for
nearly a minute, but contact was not made. The
? seemed to shuffle her feet while the ? stood on
her back, but was unable to keep his balance.
After break off, both turns resumed feeding.
7 june Two pairs seen near Britton's area.
8 june - Pair seen attempting copulation east of Britton's
Area. The ? was feeding. The ? flew up & landed
next to her. She turned, he jumped in the air,
landed on her back & stood there, balancing himself
with outstretched wings. It could not be determined
if the attempt was successful.
17 june - An excited pair seen in Debeourndy r - a
Pitelka's Plat - apparent nest was near.
24 june 1 saw south / luske slough. - feeding.
in mossy edge habitat for pecking at
the surface.
$ july The pair still seen near Petroleum
on FAP's plot - They became very
excited & start calling like
ah, whit da, whit da, chee, chee, che.
