2 June Barrow, Alaska
They were never noted to probe
as the sandpipers do.
3 June - A pair seen again near Elson
Lagoon.
6 June - A pair seen near Britain's Area,
bathing in a small pool.
9 June - A pair seen along Elson Lagoon south
1 mile. Shortly, BOTH birds chased
a pomarine jaeger for about 100 yds
before the jaeger maneuvered and
flew off. A few seconds later, 1/2
The birds chased another jaeger
During both actions, a guttural rattle was
given rapidly.
16 June - A pair seen chasing jaegers again to
the Elson Lagoon area, & 1 bird
seen feeding near Britain's Area.
12 June - A pair seen near Voth's Area.
13 June - The pr. near Voth's were watching
when there was a nest nearby. BOTH
birds were chasing the jaegers, but me
acted like I was concerned about a
nest.
26 June: A nest was found near the buildings at
A.A.C.S. It contained 4 eggs & was located
in an area of dark black soil, which
had been turned up by a vehicle.
