Pluvialis dominica
21 July Skrovaik, Alaska
adults were seen, + both did distraction
displays. No. 4 (?) was more aggressive
however, and would flap flutters
be wings and run off in
a mouse run when he took feather
were semi-erected, tail lowered
+ slightly spread. Occasionally
when she would come in very
close, she would spread out
with both wings spread
horizontally + flush with the
ground. The chicks were fair
sized and had speckled/green
yellow color ~ their backs.
Several large flock of birds
were seen. These consisted 1
3-6 birds flying a feeding-to-
gather. All were molting (or
were the parents of the chicks,
described above).
22 July Barrow, Alaska
The nest - The B.R. (new last
year's white-rump nest) was
watched when checked this afternoon.
There were 2 Adel - The flat rock
17 ridge, but young were not
seen with them.
