Holmes, R. 1959 Clangula hyemalis 5. 17 July Barrow, Alaska The nest was checked in Redrum area and was found to have been destroyed. The eggs and drum war scatbird all around (18') the nest site. It must have happened several days ago for the youth, etc. look dried! The nest had been located in some Lyngbya which was about 6" tall, but possibly this was not enough to cancel the nest. 18 July Barrow, Alaska Several small flocks were noted near the surf between SPL and the village. They were in combination winter- summer plumage. 20 July Barrow, Alaska Many small groups of these, sitting on floats and flying westward between Aklan and Minute. 23 July Barrow, Alaska Two seen in middle saltwater lagoon during the afternoon. 31 July Barrow, Alaska They were pure of freshwater lake. One male in winter plumage, and two small fry females.
