ponds. They appeared to just be
sitting on the water with no
other noted activities.
15 June Barrow, Alaska
Several pairs seen on the ponds near the drum
area.
23 June Barrow, Alaska
Several individuals and small groups
seen over the tundra and along high tephros;
Slough. They were not seen at the ponds.
25 June Barrow, Alaska
Several pairs noted near freshwater
lagoon and adjoining ponds.
30 June Barrow, Alaska.
Large group (mostly males) were
noted during the morning and
afternoon in freshwater lagoon.
They were in the water between
the road and the ice (about 40
feet wide). Feeding (by diving) was
the main activity.
2 July Barrow, Alaska
125-87 were present on freshwater
lagoon in the morning and afternoon.
Several of these were almost
completely in their winter plumage.
3 females were noted in the group.
