Holmes, R. 1959 Somateria mollissima 3 June Barrow, Alaska 1 flock of 75 seen near Nuvuk. 7 June Barrow, Alaska Several groups of 8-16 birds seen sitting on the water on the lead (Arctic Ocean). They were about 400 yards offshore and were too far for observations. Others were seen flying towards the east. 5 July Barrow, Alaska Three males seen on the pond at the end of the spit east of Nuvuk. They were in company of several King Eiders and Red Plovers. Once they climbed out together on to the ice and 'stayed' there for about 5 minutes. 20 July Barrow, Alaska Sex mule seen flying east toward Nuvuk during the afternoon. A few other individuals waded on the water between the Boose and Nuvuk. 31 July Barrow, Alaska One mule seen Elsalozer over one mule or land on the shore
