Holmes,R 1959 Somateria spectabilis 5 june Barrow, Alaska. 1 flying with 95 S. mollissima near Navuk. 7 june Barrow, Alaska About 200 seen on the lead. Most were seen flying East, but occasionally one or a small group would fly to the West. The average sized groups seemed to consist of 16-14 birds with about a 50:50 sex ratio. Occas. a pair would be seen in the water or flying by. 10 june Barrow, Alaska A flock 170 seen flying over The Gas well road towards the N.W. - in company with several Old Squaw. 12 june Barrow, Alaska One pair seen flying near Boths area. They were headed ~ N.W. 13 june Barrow, Alaska One flock third seen flying west over The beach ridge. There were about 30 present with nearly a 50:50 sex ratios. 14 june Barrow, Alaska One seen on salt water lagoon near 7 base.
