Holmes,R 1960 Gavia stellata 24 June Skroairle (Barrow) Alaska Several birds have been seen heard during the last few days in this vicinity 2 July - 2 seen - The ponds north of Skroairle (in the old lake bed). A nest could not be found. 12 July Barrow, Alaska Two seen - pond No. of Voty's Slough. 14 July - 2 seen on the creek (slough) behind said logoon. 25 July - Two seen - a small pond, just north of Voty's Marsh - A nest could not be found. 30 August 2 seen on a small pond - located about half way between Dry lake & Lorn Lake. There was 1 young, 25 Aug A lone + 2 chicks seen in a pond just off the beach ridge. The Adult took flight upon our approach + flown while giving a loud screaming cry.
