Holmes,R. 1963 Polysticta stellari 8 June Barrow, Alaska 4 pair on pond - No. 1 Wabeschleg Flugl. 9 June 3 pair near Ootepik Slough 11 June 38.24 - flying east along gasoline ridge 15 June 2 (pair) Circus plot. 16 June 294 + 18" on Volk Slough (now filled with water) + 28°41.4 flying over north edge near propeller station. 17 June Pair - census plot 25 June 2 pair near 20.4 - in shrub brush plot. 30 June Met with Teggs 46' west 1 Foot and Loll Road 107ds north of Delulu Creek - in small depression a low ptygym. A bird when first hiker was giving a distraction display to jayge (pm) Mule deer had a ant near. She was shuffling all through the roughs with head bent forward, back feathers ruffled wings dropped & held out ar and for an hour, Tail depressed - partly spread. At one point, the jayge landed nearby, + 10' & 30' away from me met at this point but still in dish. posture, turned & looked at me - jayge - Who showed no concern. A little later, she assumes a rolled upright posture - (clenched to feet) Struck except that the tail was only slightly lowered and not spread. She stepped & started off - & is
