Holmes,R 1960 4. Polysticta stellari 30 Jun Skroawik, Alaska Turned on him. In the water, the birds scooted around, propelled by a foot paddling of the feet. Sometimes The female during her violent head jerking would dive on his downward (head) stroke. The male occasionally would put his head from frontward but never a head to the female. Sometimes there period of courtship would last 2-3 minute, and then there followed a period of feeding for 30 seconds to 1 minute before courtship was resumed. Once when the ♀ was in the water, she was following behind the ♂. Suddenly she turned off (90°) and began swimming faster. As she did so, her body was weaving from side To side, and her wings were raised slightly (it seemed to be slightly closed). The tail was raised up to down several times during the performance. This lasted for about 10 seconds during which time, the ♂ followed her. She went at the edge! The pond & she walked up to shore among a bed
