When flushed, they flew to a good pond beyond it. It seems that 8? may now be gathering & leaving the 4?. In the evening a pair was seen courting near the south end of the plot. Both the 8? & the 9? were performing the head jerk. The 8?, however, seemed to be going at it more vividly, especially since she had a up/down movement combined with a forward/back motion. The 8? seemed to just sweep her up/down without raising the bill above the horizontal. Usually after several seconds of head jerking, The 8? would chase the 9?. She would then jump on him & close him. If this worked, the 8? stood very upright with neck stretched upwards and waddled after the 9? until she
