Holman, R. 1959 Gavia stellata 2. 16 July Barrow, Alaska The nest was checked today. The female was incubating upon our approach and flushed when we were about 30 yards away. There were still 2 eggs, but the nest had been built up with a few pine pieces of sedge. Another one was seen several ponds away which may have been the mate of this incubating bird or it had a nest of its own. 18 July Barrow, Alaska One senior loon pond, just so. 1 foot print lake. It has been noticed there several times. Another was seen on the small ponds no. 1 Skua-vit lake. 31 July Barrow, Alaska The next No. 1 Woshlesblog Slough was checked. The eggs had hatched and are chicks were seen in the pond.
