20 Aug. Wind blew and it was cold and damp. last night,
Didn't sleep well. Checked traps in morning -
Caught a Dipodomys agilis, 2 Peromyscus maniculatus
and a Reithrodontomy's ludovicianus which
spoiled during the day and was not put
up.
Put up skins in morning including
a Lanius ludovicianus which I shot
yesterday and failed to mention. Saw
Mex. Bluebirds, Brewer Blackbird, heard
white-breasted nuthatch, West. Meadowlark,
saw a
Sparrow Hawk, Downey Woodpecker, Marsh Hawk.
This morning a Coyote appeared at
the "fan" at mouth of a large draw
300 yds from our camp, sat down and
barked at us for about 15 minutes.
He finally disappeared.
Last night Storer and I shined a
young (large) Horned Owl. Also heard
a Barn Owl.
Drove to Paso Robles to buy another
blanket.

After dinner set traps in a "fan"
at mouth of canyon in a grassy
Artemesia growth. Will get names of
other plants there tomorrow,
