Salt 1947 Journal May 1 Cottonwood Spring, Elev. 3000', Riverside Co., Calif.- goldfinch. About 5 Pm. captured a Scelopous magester. Drove to the highway to Indio. Saw Verdin and Road runner on the way out. Also saw an Ash-throated Flycatcher and Olive-sided Flycatcher in the trees at Cottonwood spring during day. Went right driving on the Indio-Indian Wells. road. Saw only one gekko, but didn't capture it. Must add the following species to the Cottonwood Spring list: Black-throated Gray Warbler, MacGillivray Warbler, and yellow-throat May. 2 Indio-Palm Springs- Palm Canyon- Andreas Canyon- Riverside Co., Calif. Drove over to Palm Canyon. The second fire reported to have burned through has taken out much of the underbrush and water flow through there has piled up a lot of debris around the bases of the palms. Thought I saw a second Spinus psaltria psaltria or but didn't get a good enough look to make sure. Drove over to Andreas Canyon about 2 mi east of Palm Canyon, 2 mi west of Palm Springs on the south facing
