Drove to Mono Lake to Fish and Game test creek at south end of lake --. Walked to beach & shot 10 gulls --. Succeeded in some measure in calling them in to us after we had some dead ones lying around --. Noticed quite a lot of variation in leg color from green to yellow --. Most of 10 were yellow with only one of ten with definite greenish-white color --. Violet-green swallows were coursing over the "willow"-grassland area behind beach --. Shot one --. Saw dead grebe (troned?) on beach pretty well dried up --. Yellow warbler in "willows." Drove to Echo Pass via Bridgeport. North of Bridgeport at junction of Bodie road stopped in a gravelly area in the stream where it looked like they'd been sluicing gold
