Feb 28 1959 Sat. after lunch Jerry & I went to Swane's Ranch, Marin Co. to try to dig out some moles. Arrived at 3:30 P.M. by then they had started to work. The method employed this time as follows. Find a new freshly made mound and open it up. With aid of 1/8" steel wire probe and follow the run back for some 18" from the opening. Then place a straw just in the open entrance. When straw moves by mole pushing dirt to close opening cut across run some 18" back and behind animal. I managed to get two F's this way. Jerry didn't use probing method and as result missed 2 moles when they worked. Upon returning to Berk at 8:30 P.M. found
