M. Russell M.V.Z., Berkeley, Calif. Feb 24 1959 running the power saw in the same room as the cage and looked as though the moles had been disturbed. Am feeding this & angle worms and meal worms, all alive. The other moles I'm feeding frozen meal worms, frozen hamburger & live new born rats. Feb 25, 1959 The young moles survived the disturbance of the saw running and appear in good shape. The pinkish skin had darkened somewhat now with a slight grayish wash especially on the back. The F spends part of her time in the nest material but away from the young. Have found the young in one cup, land a separate depression where she had been. Other times she seems to just tramp across all the nest material with the young buried in dry grass below. Since they were born sometime during night of Feb 18-19 I am arbitrarily setting the time at mid-night for purposes of aging them. So on this basis at mid-night Feb 26 they will be 7 days old.
