Though I didn't get any moles with the aid of the lights I did get some idea of periods of activity. From past observations it appeared that they start to work around 4 P.M. and with aid of light found they worked till 8 P.M. Stayed up till mid-night but no lights came after 8 P.M. Hit sleeping bag at midnight or got up at 5 A.M. expecting to find either lights on or batteries run down. But no — no light had come on and didn't till 6 A.M. Here again, getting in daylight I have seen in the past that they work up till 8-9 A.M. Very little working done between 10 A.M. & 4 P.M. Feb. 19, 1959 At 8 A.M. found that #13404 had 4 young in the nest. She weighed 80.0g when caught on Jan 17 & still weighed 80.0g on Feb 10. However on Feb 15 she weighed 93.0g. From Jan 17 - Feb 19 = 34 days. Feb 24 1959 Looked at young at 10 P.M. — nest was scattered some and young beneath the nest material. Once one had been
