W.C.Russell 3 mi, NNW Canyon, 8400 ft, Yellowstone Park, Wyo. Sept 7 1967 spot for collecting. However after leaving Canyon not soon enters Hayden Valley which is just a huge meadow with the Yellowstone River wandering through it. Then the remainder of the route is through lodgepole pine. There is not much in way of variety to break the monotony of the area. So decided to stay at Old Faithful for night & return to our of camping spot of last few days. Sept 8 1967, Arrived back at above location at 9:30 A.M., Went up on hill above camp till 1 P.M. to pick up any birds I could find, An eagle soared by with our local population of 3 red-tail hawks diving on it. Didn't seem to pester the eagle much however. Then I was poking in a clump of conifer where it was cool, damp & had 2 queen grass and stumbled on a bull moose - antlers still in velvet. He didn't give a damn about me and
