Sept. 3, 1967.
In mid-morning drove back to Tower Junction then S to Canyon. Provisional talked to ranger Jim Canyon. Think we have finally hit on the solution to camping spots amidst the tourists. There are camp grounds where everyone is supposed to be at night. Then there are many picnic areas that are open for daytime use. I think for purposes of our work they'll let us stay in picnic areas.
Any way that's where we are to night in Dunraven Road picnic area. Put out about 25 mouse traps along a very small trickle of water that comes through this area. Hardly call it a creek. Heard 2 horned Owls at dark.

Climbed up to Hedges Peak this A.M. to scout the area for horned larks. The whole area is a patchwork of patches of lodgepole pine & open grass slopes. On the E facing slopes facing Dunraven Peak the timber is dense with large
