in small grove of aspen, not splaying too. Then an quite a few "sparrows" in this meadow but far I haven't caught up with them. They stick in the willows & grasses & when flushed fly long distances.

Herd elk bugling this morning.
This is first morning it had been real snappy. I would say 35-38 F.
Put thermometers out to night, took 3 Microtus, 1 Sorex, 1 Neosorex & 1 Jayus.
Relocated & lengthened the line a bit in afternoon. Now have out 53 traps. No animal taken in line during day. Hunted in aspen, Lodge Pole, Doug Fir, Engleman Spruce grove N of house this A.M. It was in this and grove where the 3 Canada Jays & 2 Stewes were taken. The Stewes were doing considerable calling.
They're pluggacious little devils.
They dart out at every bird that passes by - including the jays.
